Redemption
We hope this finds you well and thriving! Spring is in full swing and the wind is blowing. I'm excited to share some big updates from the track, family life, work and a bit of inspiration to carry us forward. Let’s dive in!
Track Season Opener: A Surprising 1:51.1 800m!
I kicked off my outdoor track season at Wichita State University with an 800m time of 1:51.1—a result that honestly shocked me! After battling hip injuries and skipping sprint work for a while, this felt like a huge win. It’s a reminder that persistence pays off, even when the road is bumpy. Thanks for all your support—it means the world!
Running things - US Road Mile Championships - Back with Tracksmith - CORO’S
I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be racing at the US Road Mile Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 22nd! I’ll be sporting a Tracksmith Kit , proudly representing a brand I first worked with in 2022. Even cooler? The program director is none other than Nick Willis, Olympic 1500m medalist and my favorite miler from my college days. He gave me some great advice to get into races that I will enjoy rather than just chasing a time this early spring! That's exactly what I’m doing now. Ran that fun 800m against college athletes and now testing my championship racing in one of the most fun road miles in the country! Getting to collaborate with this brand is going to be great, they also just added some top tier runners to their team plus Matthew Centrowitz (2016 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 1500m). Wish me luck as I chase that mile!

Training has been going well! Ever since my last hiccup in early February with the Flu, the foot has been down on the gas pedal! Although I’m doing most of my training just focusing on getting “aerobic” and not doing the faster work yet, my fitness is coming around. I am tracking everything through the Coros Training Hub, which gives me insights on how I'm improving, my recovery and so much more. The more you wear this watch the more data it will share with you. It’s been very fun working with them on the side writing articles and growing my knowledge in the fitness tech field! Here is my latest article on the efficiency score. Give it a read!
Judah James Turns 1!
On April 12th, our little man Judah James celebrated his first birthday! He’s an absolute joy, lighting up our days with his boundless energy and his favorite phrase, “da da da da”. Watching him grow alongside my high school sweetheart is the greatest adventure, and I’m so grateful for this season of parenthood.

Judah’s name holds special meaning to us, inspired by one of our favorite redemption stories in the Bible. In Genesis 38, Judah faces a rough chapter, but by Genesis 43, we see a beautiful picture of his transformation and growth. This redemption story continues through the ages, as Judah’s line leads to Jesus Christ, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). This title reflects Christ’s strength and kingship, a powerful reminder of the hope and victory woven into Judah’s legacy—and a sweet connection to our little Judah’s name. Here’s a short video of this redemption story The Lion of the Tribe of Judah (watch it all if interested or skip to 15 minutes in)!
Work Life/Coaching Balance
I’m loving the rhythm of my days lately! Sure, I sometimes daydream about professional runners napping or gaming after their double runs, lifts, and sauna sessions. But my packed schedule? It’s a win I wouldn’t trade. Mornings are filled with working alongside students on campus, planning epic activities to make college life more vibrant. Then, I’m out under the sun, coaching hard working athletes who inspire me with their grit. The best part? Coming home to our one-year-old, whose big smile begs for a bike ride adventure! By the time JJ goes down between 7:30 and 8:00 PM, I’m ready to crash, too. This full, joyful life—balancing work, running/coaching, and family—is exactly where we are at and we are loving it!
Words to Live By
I’ll leave you with a quote from Teddy Roosevelt that’s been on my heart:
“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”
This resonates deeply as I chase big dreams on the track while staying grounded in humility and hard work. I hope it inspires you to pursue your goals with passion and balance, too!
